When this QR Code is a good fit
A Wi-Fi QR Code helps a scanner enter a network name and connection details instead of typing them. The form supports WPA/WPA2, WEP, open networks, and the hidden-network flag.
Practical use cases
- Give office visitors access to a separate guest network without typing a long password.
- Place connection details in a rental room or guest accommodation for current occupants.
- Display customer-network access at a café counter or reception area.
- Distribute temporary network details at a conference, class, or other managed event.
How to create it with this form
- Choose Wi-Fi and select WPA/WPA2, WEP, or Open network to match the router configuration.
- Enter the SSID exactly, including letter case, and enter a password unless Open network is selected.
- Enable Hidden network only when the router actually suppresses its SSID, then review every value.
- Scan with a phone that is not already connected to that network and test the printed export before installation.
Printing and scan-testing tips
- Place the code where the network has usable coverage and show the readable network name nearby for confirmation.
- Print for the actual scan distance, keep strong contrast, and avoid shiny metal or sharply curved surfaces.
- Test on available iOS and Android devices because Wi-Fi handling and confirmation steps can vary.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Selecting the wrong security type or entering an SSID or password with incorrect letter case.
- Marking a broadcast network as hidden, or omitting the flag when the router truly hides its SSID.
- Changing the network password without replacing the QR sign, leaving the old image both exposed and unusable.
Privacy and security considerations
The network credentials are present in the QR payload. Someone who scans or saves the image may read and share them, so do not publicly display an administrator or internal-network code.
QRdee processes the SSID and password in your browser, but you remain responsible for downloaded copies, guest-network permissions, and rotating credentials when access should end.
Frequently asked questions
Is my Wi-Fi password sent to a QRdee server?
No. The generator uses the form values in your browser. The password is still encoded in the QR image and can be read by anyone who has access to it.
Can I create a QR Code for a hidden network?
Yes. Enter the exact SSID, matching security type and password, then enable Hidden network. Test it with the intended devices before publishing.
What happens after I change the Wi-Fi password?
Create a new QR Code with the current credentials and remove the old signs or files. A static QR Code cannot update the password embedded in it.
